Returns & Refunds Policy
What to do if your seed kit arrives damaged, unsuitable, or if you simply change your mind before sowing.
1. Our Approach to Returns
Because our seed kits are region-matched to a specific postcode, soil type, and set of local pollinators, we handle returns a little differently to a standard retailer. Once a seed pouch has been opened, the seed itself cannot be resold or reused for another customer's regional mix, so our policy focuses on making sure any issue with your order is resolved fairly rather than simply asking you to send unopened seed back and forth.
2. Unopened Kits
If you change your mind after ordering and your seed kit, map, or accompanying tool has not been opened or used, you may return it to us in its original, unopened packaging. This applies to full kits such as the Regional Wildflower Seed Kits, Small Space Seed Kits, and unused Conversion Kits and Tools, provided the foil seed pouch remains sealed and any included rake head or accessory is unused and in its original condition.
Reference materials such as the Cartographic Provenance Atlas Set may be returned if the map sheets are undamaged and the portfolio is in resalable condition.
3. Damaged or Faulty Deliveries
If your kit arrives with a torn or compromised seed pouch, a damaged map, or a faulty tool such as a scarifying rake head, please let us know as soon as possible after delivery. We will arrange a replacement of the affected component or a full refund, whichever is more appropriate given the nature of the fault. Please retain the packaging and the affected item where possible, as we may ask for a description or photograph to help us identify how the damage occurred and prevent it in future shipments.
4. Incorrect Regional Matching
Because regional matching depends on the delivery postcode provided at checkout, please double-check this information before placing your order. If you believe you have received a kit that does not match the region stated on your order confirmation, due to an error on our part rather than an incorrect postcode being supplied, we will replace the kit with the correct regional mix at no additional cost.
If you have simply changed your mind about which region's mix you would prefer, for example after realising a neighbouring provenance zone suits your garden better, we are happy to discuss an exchange provided the original pouch remains unopened.
5. Germination and Growing Outcomes
Our seed kits are germination tested before dispatch, and typical germination rates are noted on individual product listings. However, once seed has been sown, we cannot offer a refund based on how a meadow develops after planting, since outcomes depend heavily on local weather, soil preparation, sowing timing, and aftercare, all of which are outside our control once the kit has left our premises. We are always happy to offer guidance if a patch is not establishing as expected, and many issues can be resolved with adjustments to preparation or timing rather than a replacement kit.
If a germination-tested pouch appears to have a substantially and demonstrably lower germination rate than stated, well below what would be expected from normal variation, please contact us so we can look into the specific batch and arrange an appropriate remedy.
6. How Refunds Are Processed
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method used at checkout. Processing times will vary slightly depending on your card provider or payment platform, but we aim to confirm and initiate any approved refund promptly once an issue has been reviewed. Where a partial refund is more appropriate, for example where only one component of a larger conversion system is affected, we will confirm the amount with you before processing it.
7. Coaching Sessions, Webinars, and Conferences
Bookings for seasonal coaching sessions, community webinars, or in-person conference attendance are handled separately from physical seed kit orders. If you are unable to attend a booked session, please let us know as soon as you are able so that we can discuss rescheduling or an appropriate resolution, taking into account how much notice has been given before the session or event.
8. Non-Returnable Items
For hygiene and horticultural reasons, opened seed pouches, used yellow rattle bags, and any sown or partially sown mix cannot be accepted for return once opened, except where a fault or damage is identified as described above. This ensures the integrity of every regional mix we send to customers across the UK.
9. Getting in Touch About a Return
If you would like to raise an issue with your order, please reach out to our team through the contact channels available on our site, and describe the kit or product affected along with the nature of the issue. We aim to make the process as straightforward as possible, particularly where a delivery has arrived damaged or a fault has been found in one of our conversion tools.
